Job summary

Virginia Department of Corrections seeks a Licensed Practical Nurse at River North Correctional Center. This full-time role offers a $3,500 sign-on bonus or up to $10,000 student loan repayment for eligible new hires.

LPNs provide nursing care under RN direction, with medication administration and first aid responsibilities. Requirements include graduation from an accredited nursing program and Virginia LPN licensure (or multi-state compact).

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Must possess and maintain a Virginia LPN license (unrestricted) or multi-state compact license; NCLEX-PN scheduling if recent VA graduate.
• Working knowledge of practical/general nursing care.
• Certified Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers is required on hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide evidence-based nursing care under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
• Screen sick calls, administer medications, and provide first aid and basic life support.
• Maintain medical records and coordinate with security and treatment staff.
• Be able to work hours, days and locations as assigned to meet institutional needs.
