Job summary

The Virginia Department of Corrections seeks a Nurse Practitioner for River North Correctional Center. You will provide medical care to inmates, perform initial and ongoing assessments, prescribe medications, and help develop treatment plans.

Requirements include Virginia NP license, graduate of an accredited program, and BLS certification. A $10,000 sign-on bonus or up to $10,000 student loan repayment may be available for eligible new hires.

Qualifications

• Licensed to practice in Virginia as a Nurse Practitioner.
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Knowledge of DSM diagnostic criteria is desirable.
• BLS certification through AHA or ARC is required on hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform initial and ongoing medical assessments of inmates.
• Prescribe medications and assist with treatment plans.
• Assignments to other duties or locations may be made to meet clinical needs.
