Job summary

MEDIKO is seeking an LPN/LVN to provide direct patient care in a correctional setting at the Catawba County Detention Center in Newton, NC. The role includes administering medications, monitoring patients, and documenting care while ensuring safety and compliance with facility policies.

Qualifications

• Current, valid state licensure appropriate to role (CMA, LPN, RN, LMHP, etc.).
• High School diploma or GED required.
• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare/Nursing preferred but not required.
• 1–3 years of healthcare experience, preferably in correctional settings.
• Experience in direct patient care or regulated environment preferred.
• Strong understanding of healthcare regulations related to correctional settings.
• Active CPR/BLS certification required per guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care including assessments and monitoring vital signs.
• Administer prescribed medications and document reactions accordingly.
• Conduct initial screenings on entry and provide ongoing care during stay.
• Assist with sick calls and respond to patient health concerns.
• Coordinate with physicians and healthcare teams for treatment modifications.
• Maintain accurate patient records in compliance with policies and laws.
• Ensure all treatments comply with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Educate patients and facility staff on health topics and prevention.
• Ensure proper storage of medications and inventory management.
• Collaborate with correctional staff to coordinate care delivery.
