Job summary

Ramsey County is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse to join the correctional health team at the Law Enforcement Center. This is a 0.8 FTE position under direct supervision to provide nursing services, administer medications, injections, and perform diagnostic tests within the correctional setting.

The role involves collaborating with on-site healthcare and custody staff, monitoring patient conditions, and ensuring accurate documentation.

Qualifications

• Completion of a practical nursing program approved by the Minnesota Board of Nursing.
• One year of LPN experience.
• Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse in Minnesota and CPR/BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care to patients per treatment plans including vital signs, wound care, injections, and prescribed meds.
• Order, administer and monitor medications and document issues such as non-compliance or missed doses.
• Make decisions in emergencies, coordinate with custody staff and reference supervising nurses.
• Prepare transfer summaries, process sick calls, and assist in discharge planning.
