Description of Work
Carteret Correctional Center is a minimum custody facility. This position involves continuous observation and patrol of Food Service work areas, crisis intervention counseling, comprehensive report writing, and rescue functions. Responsibilities include operating locking devices, maintaining keys, and adhering to sanitary food handling practices. The role requires the ability to manage food requisitions within a budget, supervise subordinate staff, and make emergency decisions regarding Food Service operations.
This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits.
Note to Current State Employees: The salary grade for this position is NC07. Salary will be recalculated based on education, experience, funding, and internal equity, possibly resulting in a pay increase.
As of January 1, 2025, the salary range is $35,984 - $62,971.

High school diploma or GED plus two years of experience in institutional food services, management, or correctional work; or one year as a Correctional Food Service Officer. Equivalent education and experience may qualify. Applicants must be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.
