Job summary

Wyoming Women’s Center, operated by the Wyoming Department of Corrections in Lusk, seeks a Food Service Specialist to assist the Food Service Supervisor. You will train inmate workers, direct meal preparation and service, and ensure safety, sanitation, and dietary accommodations in a fast-paced cafeteria environment.

The role emphasizes quality, consistency, and compliance with USDA standards, supporting public safety and inmate reintegration through constructive work opportunities.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of food safety practices and sanitation.
• Knowledge of meal preparation and quantity/quality controls.
• Knowledge of basic employee supervision methods.
• Knowledge of procurement, receiving, and storage methods.
• Knowledge of State and Federal food laws.

Responsibilities

• Directs and supervises the preparation of meals according to menus and standards.
• Trains staff in safety and sanitation.
• Prepares religious and medically required diets and substitutions.
• Directs portioning and serving of meals and oversees bulk food distribution.
• Ensures daily health guidelines are met in food prep and storage.
• Manages inventory and daily item reviews.
• Completes daily inventories of knives and tools.
• Monitors temperatures of food, refrigerators, and freezers.
