Job summary

Baltimore County Department of Corrections seeks a skilled Maintenance Supervisor to oversee building maintenance and repair across county correctional facilities. Under general supervision, you will assign, lead, and inspect work to ensure safe, secure, and efficient operations.

The role requires journeyman-level experience in building trades, knowledge of codes, and the ability to manage schedules, budgets, and contractors.

Qualifications

• Four years' experience in building construction, maintenance, or repair work with at least one year's journeyman level.
• Related training may substitute on a year-for-year basis up to two years for the non-journeyman experience.
• Knowledge of building codes related to building maintenance and repair.
• Ability to communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Assigns, leads, checks, and performs general maintenance and repair work.
• Plans work schedules, approves leave, and assigns tasks based on priorities and skills needed.
• Leads crews in maintenance of building systems and coordinates with skilled trades.
• Instructs and enforces safety procedures and trains staff.
• Schedules inspections and prepares labor and material cost estimates.
• Operates a vehicle between facilities.
• May transport workers or supplies and oversee contractual work.
