Job summary

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania seeks a qualified Dentist to provide comprehensive dental care at the State Correctional Institution Smithfield. You will oversee dental staff, develop treatment plans, and deliver restorative, preventative, and anesthetic procedures in a secure, on-site clinical setting.

Applicants must graduate from an approved dental school, hold PA licensure, and demonstrate strong leadership and infection-control skills to maintain high-quality patient care for inmates.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an approved school of dentistry.
• Licensed to practice dentistry in Pennsylvania.
• Ability to supervise dental staff and oversee clinic operations.
• Commitment to infection control and patient safety.
• Completion of required training and ability to perform essential job functions.

Responsibilities

• Perform periodontal exams, review medical histories, diagnose oral conditions and develop treatment plans.
• Provide restorative, preventative, and anesthetic procedures while maintaining infection control standards.
• Explain preventative practices and post-procedure instructions to patients.
• Lead Dental Assistants and Hygienists, train staff, and evaluate performance.
• Assess scheduling, records, referrals, and prescriptions to support quality improvement.
• Manage supplies, approve inventory requests, and ensure proper security and tool control.
