Job summary

Centurion Health is seeking a Full-time Dental Assistant at Western Illinois Correctional Center in Mount Sterling, IL. This role works under the Dentist and/or Dental Hygienist in a correctional setting, performing chairside duties and admin tasks.

Key responsibilities include instrument sterilization, operatory preparation, radiographic imaging, and supporting daily clinic operations. Requires a high school diploma/GED, relevant certification or experience, and CPR with ability to obtain

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required
• Completion of a technical school program in dental assisting or six (6) months of experience as a Dental Assistant required
• Dental Assistant license or ability to obtain one required
• Certification as an expanded duty dental assistant preferred; if the candidate does not possess a current certificate, one must be obtained in the first year of employment
• Certification and/or previous experience performing dental x-rays preferred
• Must show/obtain current Purified Protein Derivative (PPD) documentation for tuberculosis screening
• Must be appropriately and actively certified in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
• Ability to obtain a security clearance, to include drug screen and criminal background check

Responsibilities

• Preparing and sterilizing dental instruments
• Preparing and maintaining the dental operatory
• Operating radiographic equipment
• Administrative tasks as needed

Education

High School Diploma or GED

Dental Assisting program certificate or 6 months experience

Dental Assistant license or ability to obtain one

Expanded duty dental assistant certification preferred; if absent obtain within first year

X-ray certification preferred

Tuberculosis screening (PPD) documentation

CPR certification

Ability to obtain security clearance
