Job summary

Iowa Prison Industries in Newton, IA is seeking an experienced operational leader to serve as State Industries Supervisor overseeing Canteen operations. You will manage a team of 4 State Industries Product Technicians and administer a $7,000,000 canteen budget, ensuring efficient, secure, and cost-effective delivery of goods and services.

Reporting to the Public Service Executive, you will supervise daily workflows, manage inventory and vendor relations, enforce safety and security policies, and

Qualifications

• Licensure and physical requirements: valid Iowa driver''s license; ability to stand, walk uneven surfaces, climb stairs/ladders, lift 50 lbs+.
• Experience: supervisory or operational leadership in production, inventory, purchasing, or secure facility operations.
• Skills: budget analysis, inventory control, vendor management; strong English communication.

Responsibilities

• Direct day-to-day work assignments, schedule production, approve leave/overtime, and support hiring and performance evaluations.
• Oversee daily inventory, manage budget, vendor relationships, and re-order points; collaborate with purchasing.
• Enforce safety and security policies in a correctional setting; respond to incidents and maintain order.
• Attend resident council meetings at least annually to gather feedback and evaluate offerings.
