Job summary

Unified Government of Wyandotte County/Kansas City, KS is seeking Correctional Cadets who will attend training and participate in classroom and hands-on activities to prepare for a full-time Correctional Specialist role at the Wyandotte County Adult Detention Center.

Cadets will gain entry-level skills in customer service, work ethic and self-discipline, with opportunities to assist Deputies in community engagement and recruitment events.

Qualifications

• Senior (12th grade) at any Wyandotte County High School (Bonner Springs, Turner, Piper, USD 500 schools) in good standing academically and behaviorally.
• Citizen of the United States.
• Able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Attend all required training classes and actively engage in classroom and hands-on activities.
• Learn entry-level skills such as customer service, work ethic and self-discipline.
• May assist Sheriff Deputies and staff in civilian activities including community engagement and recruitment events.
