Job summary

NYSDOCCS Recruitment seeks Correction Officer Trainees for a 12-month training program before advancing to Correction Officer. You will attend the Correctional Services Training Academy for a minimum 8-week formal training program to develop custody and security skills and ensure the safety and well-being of incarcerated individuals in state facilities, shock incarceration centers, and related settings.

Salary includes a $5,000 annual geographic pay differential, plus additional compensation

Job description

Correction Officer Trainees are required to participate in, and satisfactorily complete, requirements of a 12-month training program before advancing to Correction Officer. As part of the program, you will attend the Correctional Services Training Academy for a minimum 8-week formal training program.

Correction Officers are responsible for the custody and security, as well as for the safety and well-being of incarcerated individuals in state correctional facilities, shock incarceration correctional facilities, work release centers and a drug treatment campuss.

• Salary range includes a $5,000 annual geographic pay differential.
