Dunn-Edwards is seeking a Corporate Trainer to develop and deliver training programs that build knowledge of our products, services, and competitive advantages. Reporting to the Corporate Training Manager, you will create learning solutions using classroom, eLearning, coaching, and hands-on sessions across the organization.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree (or 5+ years in training), ability to travel up to 25%, and strong collaboration with management.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze training needs within the assigned territory to develop new programs and improve existing ones
  • Design and deliver impactful training through a variety of instructional approaches, including classroom facilitation, eLearning, demonstrations, on-the-job training, coaching, workshops, and collaborative learning experiences, adapting methods to learners with varying levels of experience and expertise
  • Lead the development and delivery of product application training for employees and Dunn-Edwards’ dealer partners, ensuring they have the knowledge, skills, and confidence to effectively apply, recommend, and support company products
  • Coordinate training programs and schedules with management across multiple departments, ensuring participants and managers receive timely updates while maintaining operational efficiency and business continuity
  • Collaborate with management and employees across the organization to assess the impact of changes in policies, procedures, regulations, business initiatives, technologies, and market conditions, ensuring effective communication, organizational readiness, and alignment with business goals and strategic priorities
  • Monitor the aptitude of training program participants to provide real-time coaching and timely feedback to their managers

Job description

Description: Corporate Trainers develop the knowledge, skills, and capabilities of Dunn-Edwards employees and Dealer partners. The role designs, develops, and delivers training programs that give team members a strong understanding of Dunn-Edwards’ products, services, value propositions, and competitive selling advantages. Working closely with management at all levels, Corporate Trainers prepare employees to meet current and future business objectives while supporting career growth, professional development, and organizational success.

Reporting to the Corporate Training Manager, Corporate Trainers build customized learning solutions using a range of instructional methods, including classroom facilitation, product demonstrations, one-on-one coaching, virtual learning, and hands-on training. They assess learning needs, evaluate performance and skill development, document training outcomes, and lead engaging, interactive learning experiences that drive employee effectiveness and business results.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Needs Analysis & Industry Knowledge:

  • Analyze training needs within the assigned territory to develop new programs and improve existing ones
  • Maintain current knowledge of learning methodologies, best practices, and coatings industry trends, technologies, and products to inform program design and delivery

Program Design & Delivery:

  • Design and deliver impactful training through a variety of instructional approaches, including classroom facilitation, eLearning, demonstrations, on-the-job training, coaching, workshops, and collaborative learning experiences, adapting methods to learners with varying levels of experience and expertise
  • Lead the development and delivery of product application training for employees and Dunn-Edwards’ dealer partners, ensuring they have the knowledge, skills, and confidence to effectively apply, recommend, and support company products
  • Ensure timely delivery and ongoing maintenance of training programs, curricula, and learning paths

Coordination & Scheduling:

  • Coordinate training programs and schedules with management across multiple departments, ensuring participants and managers receive timely updates while maintaining operational efficiency and business continuity

Partnership & Organizational Alignment:

  • Collaborate with management and employees across the organization to assess the impact of changes in policies, procedures, regulations, business initiatives, technologies, and market conditions, ensuring effective communication, organizational readiness, and alignment with business goals and strategic priorities
  • Cultivate strong relationships with department and front-line managers, their teams, and Dunn-Edwards’ dealers to become the go-to resource for training and employee development
  • Partner with management at all levels to ensure exams, quizzes, and training requirements are completed on schedule

Coaching & Compliance:

  • Monitor the aptitude of training program participants to provide real-time coaching and timely feedback to their managers
  • Understand and comply with company processes and procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned

There are no subordinate employees reporting to this position.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Business Administration, Management, Communication, or Instructional Design/Learning Technology
  • Or a minimum of 5 years’ experience developing people and/or training programs, or a combination thereof
  • Paint industry experience preferred but not required

Language Skills: Ability to read, interpret, and communicate information contained in business reports, company communications, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, training materials, policies, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and facilitate training for individuals and groups at various levels of the organization. Must be able to communicate clearly and professionally in both written and verbal formats, respond to questions, provide instruction and feedback, and adapt communication and training delivery to meet the needs of different audiences.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to identify and resolve training-related challenges, interpret written and verbal instructions, analyze information, and make sound decisions. Ability to adapt training methods and solutions based on learner needs, performance, feedback, and business requirements.

Certificates, Licenses & Registrations: A valid driver’s license for the state in which the Corporate Trainer works. CPTD, APTD, and ATD Master Trainer designations are a plus, but not required.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Ability to travel (drive and fly; occasional overnight travel) to company facilities and occasional functions or events (less than 25%)
  • Demonstrated initiative and accountability with the ability to take appropriate action with minimal direction
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion when handling sensitive employee and organizational information
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and quality.
