Job Description

UHY is seeking experienced Corporate Tax Consultants for project-based, and interim client engagements in Miami and throughout Florida, focused on sophisticated corporate income tax work for large publicly traded companies, private-equity-backed businesses, and similarly complex organizations. Engagement logistics and work arrangement will vary by client need.

The Corporate Tax Consultant will provide hands‑on support across ASC 740 income tax provision, federal and state corporate income tax compliance, tax reporting, and process improvement. Project scopes may include quarterly and annual provision work, tax account reconciliation, audit and SEC support, transaction or portfolio-company activity, data remediation, or interim tax‑team capacity. The consultant must be able to understand a client’s tax profile quickly, work directly in detailed provision and compliance files, and communicate effectively with tax leadership, controllership, external auditors, advisors, and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare, review, and support quarterly and annual income tax provisions under ASC 740, including current and deferred tax calculations, effective tax rate reconciliations, uncertain tax positions, valuation allowances, and financial statement support.
• Execute and review federal and state corporate income tax compliance for large C corporations, including extensions, estimated payments, returns, workpapers, apportionment data, and supporting calculations.
• Reconcile income tax accounts and deferred tax balances to the general ledger, validate tax-sensitive source data, investigate differences, and maintain clear supporting schedules and rollforwards.
• Support public‑company tax reporting and audit requirements, including provision documentation, financial statement disclosures, external auditor requests, and SEC‑related support when applicable.
• Research complex federal and state income tax matters, assess tax‑law or business changes, document technical conclusions, and translate findings into practical accounting or compliance actions.
• Partner with controllership, financial reporting, FP&A, treasury, legal, transaction teams, external tax advisors, and auditors to resolve tax issues and maintain timely deliverables.
• Support acquisition, disposition, restructuring, legal‑entity, and private‑equity portfolio activity by analyzing tax accounting and compliance impacts and maintaining continuity through change.
• Improve provision and compliance calendars, data flows, controls, workpapers, and documentation; complete knowledge transfer and transition materials for the client tax team.

Skills And Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Tax, Finance, or a related field.
• 10+ years of relevant corporate income tax experience with substantial hands‑on responsibility for ASC 740 provision work and federal and state corporate income tax compliance.
• Experience supporting large publicly traded organizations and/or private‑equity-backed portfolio companies, or similarly complex multi‑entity corporate tax environments.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP income tax accounting, including deferred taxes, effective tax rate analysis, uncertain tax positions, valuation allowances, tax account reconciliations, and provision documentation.
• Demonstrated ability to work directly in tax provision and compliance files, identify issues quickly, establish priorities, and deliver accurate work with limited ramp‑up.
• Prior consulting, interim, project‑based, advisory, professional‑services, staffing, or comparable client‑service experience strongly preferred.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience with corporate tax platforms such as Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE, Corptax, and ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or comparable platforms.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with tax leadership, controllership, external auditors, advisors, legal teams, and cross‑functional stakeholders.
• Ability to manage multiple tax deadlines, exercise sound technical judgment, adapt to changing data and systems, improve tax processes and controls, and provide clear knowledge transfer.
