Job summary

UHY Advisors' Resource Solutions Group is seeking an experienced Controller to lead project-based engagements across Florida, with roles that may be onsite, hybrid, or remote depending on client needs. You will supervise month-end close, financial reporting, reconciliations and internal controls while coordinating with client leadership and cross-functional teams.

Ideal candidates have 10+ years of accounting experience, deep U.S. GAAP knowledge, and CPA certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience with hands-on responsibility for close, reconciliations, financial reporting, and controllership-level work.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and demonstrated ability to operate effectively in complex, multi-entity environments.
• CPA certification preferred.
• Prior consulting, interim, project-based, advisory, professional-services experience preferred.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience with major ERP/accounting platforms such as SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics 365, Workday Financial Management, BlackLine, FloQast.
• Strong written and verbal communication with client executives, accounting teams, auditors, and cross-functional stakeholders.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and drive practical process improvements.

Responsibilities

• Own and execute monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities.
• Assess close-process gaps and resolve items affecting reporting timeliness.
• Prepare and review U.S. GAAP financial statements and management reporting.
• Strengthen internal controls, policies, and audit readiness; support SOX and external audits.
• Provide hands-on support across complex accounting areas as needed.
• Collaborate with CFOs, CAOs, FP&A, tax, and auditors to resolve issues.
• Support finance transformation, ERP implementations, or remediation projects.
• Document procedures and transfer knowledge to client teams at engagement end.

Job Description

UHY is seeking experienced Controllers to support project-based, interim client engagements in Miami and throughout Florida. Specific engagement duration and onsite, hybrid, or remote work expectations will vary by client need; consultants should be prepared to integrate quickly and provide hands‑on leadership and execution in complex accounting environments.

The Controller will step into client environments that need experienced accounting support across the close, financial reporting, reconciliations, internal controls, audit readiness, and process improvement. Project scopes may include close stabilization, accounting cleanup, reporting remediation, interim controllership, ERP or transaction‑related change, and other time‑sensitive priorities. This is a hands‑on role for a senior professional who can assess issues quickly, establish a practical work plan, and personally execute critical accounting work while coordinating effectively with client leadership and cross‑functional stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Own and execute critical components of the monthly, quarterly, and year‑end close, including journal entries, account analyses, balance sheet reconciliations, consolidations, and supporting schedules.
• Assess close‑process gaps, aged reconciliations, unsupported balances, and other accounting issues; prioritize and resolve items that affect reporting accuracy or timeliness.
• Prepare and review U.S. GAAP financial statements, management reporting, flux analyses, and other recurring or project‑specific financial reporting deliverables.
• Strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, close documentation, and audit readiness; support SOX, external audit, lender, board, or other reporting requirements when applicable to the engagement.
• Provide hands‑on support across complex accounting areas such as intercompany activity, revenue, leases, fixed assets, accruals, working capital, or other balance sheet and income statement accounts as client needs require.
• Partner with CFOs, CAOs, accounting leaders, FP&A, tax, treasury, auditors, systems teams, and operating stakeholders to resolve accounting and reporting issues.
• Support finance transformation, ERP implementations or remediation, acquisition integration, carve‑out activity, or other change initiatives by maintaining accounting continuity and validating financial data.
• Improve recurring accounting workflows, document procedures and key judgments, and transfer sustainable processes and work products to the client team at the conclusion of the engagement.

Skills And Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience with substantial hands‑on responsibility for close, reconciliations, financial reporting, and controllership‑level work.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and demonstrated ability to operate effectively in complex, multi‑entity, or changing accounting environments.
• CPA certification preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to enter an existing client environment, assess priorities quickly, work independently, and personally execute corrective or time‑sensitive accounting work with limited ramp‑up.
• Prior consulting, interim, project‑based, advisory, professional‑services, staffing, or comparable client‑service experience strongly preferred.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience with major ERP/accounting platforms such as SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics 365, Workday Financial Management, BlackLine, FloQast, or comparable systems.
• Strong written and verbal communication with the ability to work effectively with client executives, accounting teams, auditors, systems personnel, and cross‑functional stakeholders.
• Ability to manage competing priorities, exercise sound professional judgment, adapt to changing processes and systems, drive practical process improvement, and provide clear knowledge transfer.
