Job summary

Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield seeks a security professional to greet guests, monitor access, and support emergency response on our Des Moines campus. You’ll operate access control, CCTV and life-safety systems, and serve as a trusted resource for staff and visitors in a fast-paced environment.

You’ll bring strong communication, attention to detail, and teamwork, with 1+ year in security or related fields; on-site daily work is required.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Operate and control telecommunications, alarm monitoring, cameras, access control and life safety systems.

Qualifications

Required

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• 1+ year experience in security, law enforcement or military; including familiarity with security systems/equipment.
• Must have or be able to attain additional skills and training regarding systems and procedures used in a physical security setting.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills. Previous experience communicating between internal and external stakeholders.
• Excellent attention to detail, multi-tasking, and organizational skills, including time management and prioritization.
• Ability to remain professional, calm, and focused, adaptable and flexible, in a fast-paced, changing environment.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a team, partner with others throughout the organization, and provide advisement and coaching on security-related issues.

• Ability to troubleshoot effectively and proactively seek opportunities for process improvement.
• Microsoft Office experience – e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, etc. Technical aptitude to learn new systems quickly.
• Ability to work full time on-site daily at assigned location.

Additional Information

• Operate and control the telecommunications, alarm monitoring, camera systems, access control, and life safety systems for Wellmark properties.
• Act as the intermediary between emergency situations and emergency response personnel; convey information to the emergency personnel and ensuring appropriate response to observed conditions.
• Greet and provide exceptional customer service to all Wellmark guests and workforce.
• Monitor and provide oversight of surveillance of the premises and patrol assigned areas to ensure the safety and protection of guests, team members and company assets.
• Support visitor management processes, including access requests and badge administration.
• Secure premises and personnel and prevent losses and damage by reporting irregularities.
• Support site management of Wellmark parking which may include verifications of entrance into garage, patrol of garage, security camera monitoring of garage, etc.
• Administer and maintain corporate parking programs, including processing parking registrations, issuing permits, maintaining parking records, and responding to employee parking inquiries.
• Assist with general administrative tasks related to physical security operations, facilities coordination, and employee safety programs.
• May provide support in other areas such as Facilities and special event activities, etc., and business-related initiatives as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Office-based:

The nature of the job duties for this position will require you to be in the office 100% of the time. Your presence in-office is critical to effectively perform the responsibilities of the role. Occasional remote work may be permitted based on workload and/or other ad-hoc situations that support it, with manager approval.
