The Corporate Sales Manager drives new corporate business for Hotel Covington and The Madison Event Center. This person actively seeks out prospective clients, builds relationships in the market, and sells event space, group rooms, and related services.

We are looking for someone who enjoys making connections, initiating conversations, asking for the business, and turning relationships into booked revenue. This role also owns the details of the events they contract. Success requires both the drive to win new business and the care to deliver an exceptional client experience from the first conversation through the end of the event.

Success in This Role

  • Consistently develop new leads and convert them into booked corporate events and room business.

  • Build relationships through networking, outreach, referrals, and involvement in the business community.

  • Manage a sales pipeline with consistent follow-up, accurate forecasts, and accountability for revenue goals.

  • Understand client needs and present compelling solutions across event spaces, hotel rooms, food and beverage, and services.

  • Grow existing accounts while actively pursuing new clients and opportunities.

  • Manage contracted event details accurately and on time, keeping clients informed throughout the planning process.

  • Collaborate with Hotel, Culinary, and Operations teams to deliver a seamless event experience.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Identify and pursue new corporate business through outbound outreach, referrals, networking, community involvement, and targeted prospecting.

  • Develop relationships with decision-makers, meeting planners, businesses, organizations, and referral partners.

  • Build and manage a pipeline of prospective business; track activity, follow up consistently, and advance opportunities toward a decision.

  • Respond promptly to corporate inquiries and convert qualified leads into bookings.

  • Conduct discovery conversations and site tours to understand each client’s goals, budget, and decision process.

  • Create tailored proposals for corporate events, meetings, group rooms, and related services.

  • Negotiate terms, prepare accurate contracts, and close business while protecting revenue and meeting client needs.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for contracted clients from the initial inquiry through event completion.

  • Lead planning conversations and document event details, including timelines, room setups, food and beverage selections, and other logistics.

  • Maintain accurate client records and event documentation, and communicate final details to the teams responsible for execution.

  • Address client questions and concerns promptly, professionally, and with a focus on finding solutions.

  • Develop relationships that generate repeat business, referrals, and opportunities across Hotel Covington and The Madison Event Center.

  • Represent the properties at networking events, trade shows, sales calls, and other business development opportunities.

  • Monitor market activity and identify new industries, organizations, and partnerships to pursue.

  • Maintain accurate sales records, pipeline updates, forecasts, and performance reports.

  • Assist with client billing, accounts receivable, and other sales responsibilities as needed.

Requirements

  • Proven success in corporate sales, hospitality sales, event sales, or a comparable business development role.

  • Demonstrated ability to prospect, build a pipeline, and meet or exceed sales goals.

  • Confidence initiating conversations, developing relationships, presenting solutions, negotiating, and closing business.

  • Experience managing client details, competing deadlines, and service expectations after a sale.

  • Strong written and verbal communication, organization, accuracy, and follow-through.

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with other departments.

  • Experience with event venues, group rooms, hotels, or meetings is preferred.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365; experience with Caterease, Social Tables, and StayNTouch is a plus.

  • Availability for occasional evening and weekend networking events or client commitments.
