Job summary

Addison Group in Phoenix is seeking a qualified civil litigation attorney to guide matters from pre-suit investigations through resolution, managing strategy, discovery, motions, mediation, arbitration, and trial prep.

The ideal candidate has a JD from an accredited law school, active Arizona Bar membership, 0–4+ years of civil litigation experience, strong research and writing skills, and the ability to mentor junior staff while delivering high-quality work under deadlines.

Qualifications

  • JD from an accredited law school or equivalent legal degree.
  • Active Arizona Bar membership or the ability to obtain admission promptly.
  • 0–4+ years of civil litigation experience, including internships, clerkships, externships, or private practice.
  • Experience in commercial or personal injury civil litigation.
  • Exposure to hearings, mediations, arbitrations, or trial preparation is preferred.
  • Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills.
  • Experience drafting pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, and other litigation documents.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple matters.

Responsibilities

  • Manage civil litigation matters from pre-suit investigation through resolution, including case strategy, discovery, motion practice, mediation, arbitration, settlement negotiations, and trial preparation.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests and responses, and other court filings.
  • Conduct legal research, factual investigations, and case evaluations to assess legal risk and develop litigation strategies.
  • Manage document review, discovery processes, and case preparation.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, opposing counsel, experts, and co-counsel while maintaining strong client relationships.
  • Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and legal staff to ensure deadlines are met and high-quality work product is delivered.
  • Assist with assigning work, reviewing legal documents, and mentoring junior attorneys and legal staff as the litigation team grows.
  • Partner with leadership to develop litigation playbooks, templates, training materials, and best practices that support a scalable, high-performing practice.
  • Maintain organized case files, monitor litigation deadlines, and ensure compliance with court rules and internal procedures.
  • Contribute to process improvements and operational initiatives that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the litigation function.
