Corporate Institutional Sales Department Manager (Project Management)

This position is responsible for developing, growing, and enhancing sales and profitability within the institutional market segments, including schools (public and private), healthcare facilities (independent and chain accounts), large daycare accounts, colleges, universities, and corrections.

The role manages the CWD School and Healthcare Specialist Team across all distribution centers, working closely with the Sr. Vice President – Multi-Unit Accounts and Institutional Sales. Ideally based out of Kearney, Nebraska, the position can be remote with periodic travel to the corporate office, clients, potential clients, and industry shows. Other suitable locations include Lincoln, Omaha, Sioux Falls, and Des Moines, with consideration for candidates from North Dakota to Kansas.

Duties and Responsibilities

Major focus areas include:

  1. Program Maintenance & Development
    • Manage the CWD School & Healthcare Specialist Team at all distribution centers.
    • Achieve pre-set annual sales goals, including total sales, margin dollars, and profit per stop.
    • Oversee all aspects of CWD's corporate programs, seeking continuous improvement opportunities.
    • Review and evaluate product stocking lists and new products at all distribution centers.
    • Collaborate with Bid Team, Specialists, Purchasing, and Category Managers to align stocking lists and identify product gaps.
    • Develop pricing initiatives for preferred and private label brands.
    • Focus on vendor consolidation efforts.
    • Coordinate management of health care GPOs and the CWD Health Care Menu Program.
    • Develop reporting, customer resources, and marketing materials with team members.
  • New Business Development
    • Create and evaluate prospect lists, focusing on account profitability.
    • Work with the team to move target accounts through the sales funnel, aiming for profitability and sales targets.
    • Coordinate bid processes for institutional customers with the bid teams.
    • Manage onboarding of new accounts and transition of business.
    • Analyze current accounts and develop strategies for account penetration, especially in non-food categories.
  • Existing Account Maintenance
    • Build and maintain relationships with assigned accounts.
    • Maintain customer data in CRM.
    • Generate and evaluate reports on account profitability and penetration.
    • Establish and monitor KPIs per account.
  • Public Relations
    • Participate in meetings, trade shows, and events, including CWD-sponsored and regional/state activities.
  • Qualifications

    Education/Training/Experience:

    • High school diploma or equivalent required; advanced degree in Healthcare, Nutrition, or Dietetics preferred.
    • At least 2 years of sales or foodservice experience preferred.
    • Knowledge of the National School Lunch Program, Child & Adult Care Food Program, and healthcare regulations is a plus.
