Job summary

Akerman LLP seeks an associate with 3 to 5 years of transactional franchise experience to join its expanding national franchise practice in New York. The role offers remote/flexible work arrangements and a dynamic team culture.

The ideal candidate will have experience with FDDs, franchise agreements, registrations, default, and termination issues, plus strong research and writing skills. Bar admission or eligibility is required.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of transactional franchise experience.
• Juris Doctor from ABA-accredited law school.
• Bar admission or eligibility to obtain admission promptly.
• Excellent research and writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with franchise documents: FDDs, franchise agreements, registrations.
• Address default and termination issues and related regulatory matters.
• Support mergers, international licensing, and dispute resolution in franchising.
• Collaborate with partners and clients on franchise matters.

Job description

Akerman LLP seeks an associate with 3 to 5 years of transactional franchise experience. This is an opportunity to join an expanding national franchise practice that values collegiality. The ideal candidate must have a desire to learn and grow in serving the franchise community, and experience with FDDs, franchise agreements, franchise registrations, default and termination issues, and miscellaneous franchise regulatory, relationship, and compliance matters. Experience with mergers and acquisitions in the franchise space, international franchise licensing transactions, and dispute resolution would be a plus. Excellent legal research, writing and analytical skills are required. The position can be based in any of the firm's offices (remote/flexible work arrangement are available). Qualified candidates must have a Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school and bar admission (or eligibility to obtain admission promptly) in the jurisdiction of resident office location.

Annual base salary: $270,000 - $385,000.
