Job summary

BBVA in New York is seeking a Summer Intern to join the Corporate Credit Risk / Underwriting team. The program offers hands-on exposure to corporate credit analysis, underwriting, and portfolio risk management within a leading European bank with substantial US operations.

The intern will work with seasoned underwriters to learn financial statement analysis, cash flow modeling, and transaction structuring, supporting credit applications and ongoing portfolio monitoring.

Qualifications

• Pursuing bachelor’s degree with expected graduation after internship.
• Strong quantitative and analytical skills with interest in credit risk/financial markets.
• Experience with financial statement analysis or modeling is beneficial but not required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with corporate credit risk evaluation and underwriting components.
• Support preparation of credit analyses, financial statement reviews, and cash flow assessments.
• Participate in portfolio monitoring and risk discussions with senior staff.
• Help compile credit applications and transaction materials for approvals.
