Job summary

ExtensisHR in the United States seeks a Corporate Counsel to join a small, collaborative legal and compliance team. You will advise internal HR, operations, and account management on employment, contracts, and multi-state compliance while interfacing with clients and brokers.

You will manage EPLI, draft and negotiate commercial agreements, and support privacy, payroll tax, and licensing initiatives. This role offers a hybrid or remote setting, with a base salary in a competitive range.

Qualifications

• J.D. and active bar membership; NJ or FL admission preferred.
• Approximately five to seven years of legal experience; relevant in-house or small/mid-sized firm background.
• Substantive experience in employment law, commercial contracting, or both.
• Clear, practical written and verbal business-focused communication.

Responsibilities

• Advise internal HR, Operations, and Account Management on employment questions and multistate compliance.
• Oversight of EPLI program: claim intake, carrier notices, renewals support.
• Manage agency charges and litigation with outside counsel through resolution.
• Draft, review, and negotiate client service agreements, vendor contracts, NDAs, and data processing agreements.
• Explain contract terms to clients and brokers; respond to redlines.
• Support privacy, payroll tax, benefits, licensing initiatives; training teams.
• Draft and update policies and templates; take on special projects as needed.
• Work in a role that may be hybrid or remote; contribute to efficient department operations.
