Job summary

The Home Depot is seeking a senior in-house attorney to minimize legal exposure across contracts, regulatory issues, and claims, while advising managers and other departments on legal matters.

You will lead budget planning, manage outside counsel relationships, conduct legal research, and drive negotiations, risk assessment, and guidance to business partners. A JD and 7+ years of relevant experience are required, with the ability to supervise teams and work independently.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent is required.
• Proven drafting and negotiation skills for commercial matters.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple outside counsel relationships.
• Strong ability to work independently and prioritize tasks.

Responsibilities

• Budget management: compiles, prepares, and presents budget recommendations.
• Legal matter management: handles matters, monitors outside counsel, and conducts research.
• Negotiations: independently conducts and directs negotiations in a specific business area.
• Risk assessment and guidance: identifies risks and recommends actions to partners.
• Team supervision: may supervise Legal Specialists and Coordinators; includes performance reviews and coaching.
