Job Description

CLEAResult is seeking a litigator to join the Legal Department as Corporate Counsel, reporting directly to the Chief Legal Officer. The successful candidate will join a welcoming, close-knit Legal team comprised of several attorneys, paralegals, and other legal professionals across North America. The ideal applicant will be service-oriented and have a sense of humor. Interacting with our employees at all levels of the company, many of whom have limited experience working with counsel, is a key component of this role. Candidates must possess patience and the ability to quickly and cheerfully pivot to changing business conditions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead litigation, employment, and immigration matters internally and manage outside counsel
  • Advise, collaborate, and consult with internal, cross-functional business partners and peers within the Legal team
  • Handle legal questions pertaining to day-to-day operations and applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations, including cross-border issues supporting our Canadian operations
  • Deliver difficult or controversial messages to a wide variety of both supportive and adversarial audiences
  • Partner with human resources professionals in resolving employee accommodations, discipline, internal investigations, separations, disputes, and performance incentive plans
  • Supervise development and revision of employee and corporate policies
  • Train internal non-lawyer staff on various legal topics
  • Oversee corporate insurance procurement and recovery
  • Lightly supervise the Managing Paralegal and supporting paralegals

Qualifications

  • An enthusiastic attitude with strong interpersonal skills, i.e., must play well with others, and have prior experience in any manner of service job, e.g., barista, bartender, or retail sales, with teaching or training experience preferred
  • Demonstrate expertise and comfort communicating complex information across all levels of the organization
  • Minimum five years of broad scope commercial litigation experience. Employment litigation and advice, construction defect, insurance defense, public utility or data privacy experience preferred
  • Exceptional organization and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, improve processes, work independently under general instructions, and take initiative when required with a high volume, fast-paced practice
  • Strong candidates will demonstrate fastidiousness and precise attention to detail balanced with pragmatism, efficiency and good business acumen
  • Fluency in e-discovery and document retention procedures
  • Juris Doctor
  • Current admission to the bar in any US or Canadian jurisdiction
  • No relocation authorized. Travel up to fifteen percent. Must be able to travel internationally in North America

$131,900.00 - $197,800.00
