Job summary

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctorate from ABA-accredited law school and active state bar admission.
  • 5+ years of private practice or corporate counsel experience as a transactional real estate attorney.
  • Experience in homebuilding, construction, or real estate litigation is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Draft and negotiate land purchase agreements, construction contracts and related documents.
  • Perform due diligence on land purchase transactions.
  • Advise executives on daily legal risks and strategic matters.
  • Research legal issues affecting the organization by identifying statutes, decisions and legislation.
  • Assist with pre-litigation work to minimize risks and maximize rights.
  • Manage ongoing litigation, including outside counsel.
  • Assist with training employees on legal and compliance matters.
  • Perform corporate audits related to compliance management (e.g., registrations).

DRB Group, a large private homebuilding company, is looking to hire an experienced high-quality attorney for our Dallas, TX office. Job Purpose

The person in this position will be employed as an attorney in the legal department and will assist the General Counsel and the DRB Group companies in all legal matters. The current workload is primarily transactional, with additional dispute resolution and litigation management responsibilities for assigned geographic regions. The person in this position should have 5+ years of experience as a transactional focused real estate attorney in a law firm or corporate environment. Experience representing or working for a homebuilder is a plus.


Essential Functions

Duties and Responsibilities


  • Draft and negotiate land purchase agreements, construction contracts and various other documents.

  • Perform due diligence functions on land purchase transactions.

  • Advise executives on the legal risks facing the organization on a day-to-day basis.

  • Research legal issues impacting the organization by identifying applicable statutes, judicial decisions, and legislation.

  • Assist with pre-litigation work to minimize risks and maximize legal rights.

  • Manage ongoing litigation, including outside counsel retained to represent the organization.

  • Assist with training employees on legal and compliance matters.

  • Perform corporate audits related to compliance management (e.g., builder license registrations, corporate registrations).

Education And Work Experience


  • Juris Doctorate from a respected ABA accredited law school, and admitted to and in good standing with the applicable state bar.

  • 5+ years of private law firm or corporate counsel practice as a transactional real estate attorney.

  • Previous experience in homebuilding, construction, and/or real estate related litigation is a plus.


This position is in-office (not remote).


Salary and bonus are commensurate with experience.
