  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting and financial reporting experience, including 3–5 years in a senior leadership role (Controller, Assistant Controller, or equivalent)
  • Demonstrated track record of managing full financial close cycles and consolidated U.S. GAAP financial reporting
  • Proven leadership, analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Hands-on expertise in ASC 606 revenue recognition within construction, specialty contracting, or project-based environments
  • Direct experience managing lender reporting, borrowing base certificates, covenant calculations, and credit facility compliance
  • Experience designing, implementing, and maintaining ICFR

Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly/quarterly financial packages, management accounts, KPI dashboards, and variance analyses for leadership and PE sponsors
  • Oversee lender compliance, borrowing base certificates, credit facility reporting, and financial covenant calculations
  • Support Board of Directors presentations, bank syndications, refinancing initiatives, and facility waiver/amendment processes
  • Direct the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes and manage external audit engagements
  • Prepare consolidated U.S. GAAP financial statements and executive management reporting packages
  • Oversee general ledger, AP, AR, payroll, fixed assets, treasury reconciliations, and ASC 606 revenue recognition
  • Establish and enforce accounting policies, chart of accounts, and a robust ICFR internal control framework
  • Ensure full regulatory compliance across federal, state, and local tax filings and statutory reporting
  • Direct cash flow forecasting, banking relationships, and daily treasury operations alongside external tax advisors
  • Recruit, mentor, and build a high-accountability accounting team
  • Partner cross-functionally with FP&A, Legal, Operations, and business unit leaders
  • Drive accounting automation, evaluate new financial technology, and lead ERP upgrades
  • Execute M&A financial activities, including due diligence, purchase accounting, and post-merger integration

About the Company

Our client is a rapidly growing, private equity-backed Miami contractor specializing in structural repair, concrete restoration, waterproofing, and renovation solutions for South Florida commercial and condominium properties.

Position Overview

The Corporate Controller is a senior finance leader overseeing all accounting operations, financial reporting, treasury, and internal controls while partnering closely with the CFO. Operating in a PE-owned environment, this role ensures financial statement integrity, lender covenant compliance, sponsor reporting, and process automation across expanding business units.

Qualifications & Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
  • Education & Credentials: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • Experience: 10+ years of progressive accounting and financial reporting experience, including at least 3–5 years in a senior leadership role (Controller, Assistant Controller, or equivalent).
  • Technical Expertise: Demonstrated track record of managing full financial close cycles and consolidated U.S. GAAP financial reporting.
  • Leadership & Communication: Proven ability to lead, develop, and retain high-performing finance teams alongside excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Revenue Recognition: Hands-on expertise in ASC 606 revenue recognition standards within construction, specialty contracting, or project-based environments *
  • Debt & Lender Compliance: Direct experience managing lender reporting, borrowing base certificates, covenant calculations, and credit facility compliance. *
  • Internal Controls: Experience designing, implementing, and maintaining systems of Internal Controls over Financial Reporting (ICFR). *
Preferred Qualifications
  • Public Accounting: Public accounting experience (Big 4 or national firm strongly preferred).
  • PE Platform Experience: Prior experience leading finance/accounting operations within a private equity-backed company.
  • M&A Support: Hands-on experience supporting M&A transactions, including financial due diligence, purchase accounting, and post-merger integration. *
  • Systems & Analytics: Experience implementing/upgrading ERP systems and familiarity with data analytics tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, SQL).
  • Treasury & Tax: Practical experience managing cash flow forecasting, banking relationships, and working with external tax advisors.
  • Languages: Bilingual proficiency a plus.
Key Responsibilities
Private Equity Sponsor & Bank Reporting

  • Recruit, mentor, and build a high-accountability accounting team focused on continuous improvement.
  • Partner cross-functionally with FP&A, Legal, Operations, and business unit leaders to inform strategic decisions.
  • Drive accounting automation, evaluate new financial technology, and lead ERP upgrades.
  • Execute M&A financial activities, including due diligence, purchase accounting, and post-merger integration.
