Our client is seeking an experienced, forward-thinking Corporate Controller to lead, manage, and grow accounting operations for a large, dynamic financial institution based in the New York Metro area. This is a key leadership position responsible for overseeing a team of nearly 50 professionals. The Corporate Controller will have oversight of general accounting, operational accounting, treasury accounting, accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), fixed assets, financial reporting, and loan accounting.

Title: Corporate Controller

Salary: $225,000 - $250,000 +Bonus & LTI

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage general accounting, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting in compliance with GAAP and SEC regulations.
• Oversee and optimize processes for operational accounting and treasury functions, including cash management, liquidity planning, and investment accounting.
• Direct all activities related to general ledger accounting, AP, AR, fixed assets, and loan accounting, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and efficiency.
• Ensure timely month-end and quarter-end close processes, including consolidation and financial statement preparation.
• Drive automation and continuous improvement initiatives across accounting operations to support the company’s growth and scalability.
• Serve as a strategic business partner to senior leadership, providing financial insights and recommendations to support long-term growth and operational efficiency.
• Develop and mentor accounting staff, fostering a culture of accountability, professional growth, and operational excellence.
• Manage the preparation and filing of all required public company financial reports (e.g., 10-Q, 10-K, 8-K), collaborating closely with internal stakeholders and external auditors.
• Lead internal control processes and maintain SOX compliance, partnering with internal audit and compliance teams.
• Assist in due diligence and integration of acquisitions, where applicable.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. A Master’s Degree is preferred
• CPA required.
• 15+ years of progressive accounting leadership experience in a large financial institution.
• Strong expertise in operational and treasury accounting, as well as SEC reporting, SOX compliance, and GAAP.
• Demonstrated success managing large teams (30+), including senior-level managers.
• Strategic thinker with strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Proven track record of driving process improvements and leveraging technology to scale operations.
• Experience working with accounting systems and financial reporting tools
• Strong business acumen and ability to work cross-functionally with senior executives.
