Job summary

Aptera Motors Corp in California seeks a Corporate Controller to own the company’s accounting operations as we scale manufacturing of our solar EVs. You will report to the CFO and lead the monthly close, cost and inventory accounting, internal controls, and SEC readiness.

Collaborate with FP&A, operations, and manufacturing to inform business decisions, mentor a high‑performing team, and drive process improvements to scale with company growth.

Qualifications

• Active CPA license required.
• Progressive accounting experience in manufacturing, including cost and inventory accounting.
• Strong technical knowledge of US GAAP and ownership of the accounting close.
• Proven track record of process improvement and scalable accounting operations.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close in accordance with US GAAP.
• Own cost and inventory accounting for manufacturing operations (standard costing, BOM, WIP).
• Manage general ledger, technical accounting, and consolidated statements.
• Design and maintain internal controls; support SOX readiness and audits.
• Drive process improvements and automation to scale with growth.
• Support SEC filings (10-Q, 10-K) as company matures.
• Partner with FP&A, operations, and manufacturing to inform decisions.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing accounting team.

Corporate Controller

About the role

Seeking a Corporate Controller to own the company’s accounting operations as we scale manufacturing of our vehicles. Reporting to the CFO, this leader will run the monthly close, own cost and inventory accounting, strengthen internal controls, drive process improvement, and prepare the accounting organization to support external and SEC reporting requirements.

What you'll do

• Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close, delivering timely and accurate financial statements in accordance with US GAAP
• Own cost and inventory accounting for manufacturing operations, including standard costing, variance analysis, BOM and WIP valuation, and inventory controls
• Manage the general ledger, technical accounting, and preparation of consolidated financial statements
• Design, implement, and maintain internal controls; support external audits and prepare the organization for SOX readiness
• Drive process improvement and automation across accounting operations to scale with company growth
• Support external financial reporting, including SEC filings (10-Q, 10-K) as the company matures
• Partner cross-functionally with FP&A, operations, and manufacturing to inform business decisions
• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing accounting team

Qualifications

• Active CPA license required
• Progressive accounting experience in a manufacturing environment, including hands-on cost and inventory accounting
• Strong technical knowledge of US GAAP and demonstrated ownership of the accounting close
• Proven track record of process improvement and building scalable accounting operations
• Excellent leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Manufacturing experience in the mobility space (automotive, motorcycle, EV, or related)
• SEC reporting experience (10-Q, 10-K)
• ERP or financial system implementation experience
• CMA and/or a Master’s/MBA

Team Structure

• Leadership role reporting to the CFO; manages the accounting team and collaborates closely with FP&A, operations, and manufacturing

Required Experience

• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including manufacturing and cost/inventory accounting, with prior Controller or Assistant Controller experience; public accounting background preferred

Educational Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting , Finance, or related field; CPA required. Master’s degree or MBA a plus.
