Job description

ESAB is a world leader in fabrication technology, gas control, and inspection and monitoring, operating across more than 150 countries with a workforce as diverse as the industries we serve. The Corporate Communications Specialist is primarily responsible for the day-to-day operations and execution of ESAB’s employee communications, helping connect teammates to the company’s culture, business priorities, and direction. Partnering closely with the Vice President of Corporate Communications and colleagues across the organization, the Specialist develops clear, consistent, and engaging communications for a global workforce. The role also supports corporate events, helps build and implement ESAB’s corporate giving program and related initiatives, and provides external communications support as needed. This is a hybrid role based at ESAB World Headquarters in North Bethesda, Maryland.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manage the day-to-day operations and execution of ESAB’s employee communications program, including editorial planning, content development, publishing, channel coordination, distribution, and measurement.
  • Support the Vice President of Corporate Communications and senior leaders in communicating business priorities, decisions, organizational changes, and strategy with clarity and consistency.
  • Develop and coordinate executive and enterprise communications, including messaging frameworks, leadership narratives, town hall content, companywide announcements, presentations, and talking points.
  • Partner with the Vice President of Corporate Communications to execute employee communications for mergers, acquisitions, and integrations, from pre-close planning through integration, in collaboration with HR, Legal, and business leadership.
  • Maintain internal communications calendars, workflows, distribution lists, and reporting dashboards; track metrics and feedback to improve communication effectiveness and demonstrate business impact.
  • Build effective working relationships with stakeholders across HR, Enterprise Operations, business platforms, regional teams, Global Marketing, Legal, and IT to coordinate communications and maintain consistent enterprise messaging.
  • Manage the operations of ESAB’s global Communication Champions network, including meeting cadence, member communications, content sharing, nominations, engagement, and program measurement; use the network to amplify enterprise messages, surface stories, share best practices, and strengthen employee voice.
  • Develop and distribute communication frameworks, templates, toolkits, and resources that help managers and enabling functions communicate effectively and consistently.
  • Support the governance, maintenance, and effective use of ESAB’s internal communications channels and platforms, including the intranet, email, digital events, and emerging AI-enabled tools.
  • Provide external communications support as needed, including drafting and proofreading newsroom content, press materials, social media copy, executive posts, media-monitoring summaries, and other corporate content, while ensuring alignment between internal and external messaging.
  • Support the Vice President of Corporate Communications in planning and executing corporate events and signature programs, including global town halls, leadership meetings, the annual Values Celebration, employee engagement activities, and other enterprise events.
  • Help build, launch, and administer ESAB’s corporate giving program and related community-impact initiatives, including program guidelines, internal processes, stakeholder coordination, employee engagement, communications, and impact reporting.
Critical Skills and Competencies:
  • A passion for communication and human behavior, and a genuine curiosity for solving complex problems.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to write in multiple voices and for multiple audiences.
  • A developing ability to advise and support senior leaders, with a track record of building credibility and trust.
  • Strong business acumen and the ability to connect communication strategy to organizational outcomes.
  • Exposure to or participation in communication through mergers, acquisitions, or large-scale organizational integrations.
  • Experience developing and reporting on impact-oriented communication metrics.
  • Utmost tact, discretion, and respect for confidentiality.
  • Cultural and situational awareness, and the proven ability to work effectively with diverse populations in hybrid and global environments.
  • Strong operational, program, and project management skills, with the ability to manage calendars, workflows, vendors, budgets, and multiple priorities with accuracy and follow-through.
  • Experience supporting a structured communication network, ambassador program, employee engagement program, corporate event, or community-giving initiative in a complex, geographically dispersed organization.
  • Comfort with AI tools and a proactive approach to incorporating them to enhance productivity and communication outcomes.
  • A self-directed work style and a proactive approach to identifying and delivering additional value to stakeholders.
Supervisory Responsibilities:

This is an individual contributor role with no direct reports. The Specialist may coordinate assignments with shared communications resources and external vendors, providing clear direction, feedback, and prioritization within a matrixed structure. Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment and be present at ESAB World Headquarters in North Bethesda, Maryland, based on the company’s hybrid schedule and business needs.

Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 — including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, SharePoint, and Outlook — and in facilitating virtual meetings and large-scale digital events.
  • Proficiency with project management platforms, cloud-based collaborative tools, and communication analytics tools.
