Job summary

McKesson is seeking a Communications Intern for Summer 2027 to support internal and external communications in the healthcare technology sector. The role offers hands-on experience, networking with executives, and exposure to subject matter experts.

The internship is full-time for 10 weeks, with placement based out of Texas, Georgia, or Virginia, and includes structured coaching and performance feedback as part of the program. Candidates should be enrolled in relevant degree programs.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, English or a related field.
• Expected graduation date of Fall 2027 or Spring 2028.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a strong command of grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Familiarity with social media platforms and content management systems preferred.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Solid attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Prior internship experience in communications or a related field is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist in drafting, editing and proofreading a variety of communications materials, including internal announcements, press releases, website content, social media posts, presentations, etc.
• Support the planning and execution of internal and external communication campaigns and events.
• Conduct research on industry trends, competitor activities and media coverage to inform communications strategies.
• Manage and update content on internal communication platforms and external digital channels.
• Collaborate with various departments to gather information and ensure consistent messaging.
• Assist with media monitoring and reporting on communications effectiveness.
• Provide general administrative support to the Communications team as needed.
