Job summary

BMO Capital Markets is seeking an Associate for the US Diversified Corporate & Leveraged Banking group. You will support the deal team in underwriting, credit analysis, and portfolio management, analyzing financial data and preparing diligence materials.

The role includes screening transactions, negotiating documentation, and presenting to Credit Committees. Strong modeling, communication, and cross-group collaboration are essential in this client-focused environment.

Qualifications

• An undergraduate degree with coursework in finance, economics, or accounting.
• 3–4 years of relevant experience in investment banking, corporate banking, corporate credit, commercial banking or capital markets.
• Completion of a financial analysis credit training program preferable.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite and analyze historical financial performance; build base and stress case models; assess credit risk and rationale for transactions.
• Lead diligence calls with management teams and other lenders; compile diligence lists.
• Complete risk/return models for new deals and extensions; prepare materials for Credit Committee.
• Collaborate with Leveraged Finance, IB Industry Coverage, and Ancillary Product groups to evaluate credit hold and underwriting risk.
• Address questions from Investment Committee and Credit team to support new transactions.
• Review borrowers’ financials quarterly and annually; monitor changes affecting performance.
• Prepare concise credit analyses and correspondence on a quarterly basis; evaluate internal risk ratings.
• Identify opportunities for ancillary products like FX/hedging and cash management.
• Conduct industry trend analysis and review of comparable transactions.
• Assist in preparation of client pitches and cross-sell opportunities for banking products.
