Job summary

Grand Rapids Gravel Company is seeking an experienced Corporate Accounting Manager to oversee day-to-day accounting, payroll, and financial reporting across the organization. The role reports to the CFO and works closely with leadership and operations to ensure accurate, timely financial information and strong internal controls.

This hands-on position requires a proactive, detail-oriented professional with 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, GAAP knowledge, and proficiency in Excel

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or related field.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Experience with payroll and timekeeping; Paycor preferred.
• Strong hands-on experience with general ledger, AP/AR, payroll, reconciliations, and month-end close.
• GAAP knowledge and strong financial controls.
• Proficiency with accounting software and Excel.
• Analytical and detail-oriented problem solver.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day accounting activities with accurate information.
• Lead monthly closing, reconciliations, entries, GL review, and reports.
• Oversee accounts payable/receivable, invoices, cash receipts, payments.
• Monitor receivables and support collections.
• Oversee payroll activities and timekeeping records.
• Manage banking and cash management activities.
• Prepare recurring financial, tax, regulatory, and audit filings.
• Prepare schedules and docs for year-end activities and auditors.
• Maintain fixed assets, vendors, customers, and other records.
• Provide oversight to staff and ensure deadlines.
• Collaborate with CFO to resolve issues and improve controls.
• Serve as accounting resource across organization.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes and reporting.
• Perform additional accounting responsibilities as needs evolve.
