Job summary

Westlake Financial Services, based in Los Angeles, CA, seeks a Corporate Accountant to join the on-site finance team. The role reports to the Corporate Accounting Manager and emphasizes strong accounting fundamentals, data-driven insights, and cross-system collaboration.

The ideal candidate has 1–4 years of accounting experience, a solid grasp of US GAAP, and proficiency in Excel, SQL basics, and ERP tools, with a drive for continuous learning and process improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
• 1–3 years of general, corporate, or public accounting experience; internships may be considered.
• Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and core accounting concepts.
• Experience preparing journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting month-end close preferred.
• Advanced Excel skills (lookups, PivotTables, formulas, data analysis); Power Query a plus.
• Basic SQL knowledge and willingness to learn querying and data validation.
• Experience with ERP systems, reconciliation tools, banking platforms, or financial reporting systems preferred.
• Comfort using AI-enabled productivity tools to support research, analysis, documentation, and process improvement.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and analyze daily cash balances and support treasury activities.
• Prepare month-end journal entries, schedules, and analyses with consideration of business impact.
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate reconciling items.
• Perform variance analysis and explain drivers of financial results.
• Analyze data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
• Validate data across GL, bank platforms, subledgers, and reporting tools.
• Collaborate with Treasury, Finance, Operations, Tax, and Technology to resolve issues.
• Support schedules for audits and compliance requests.
• Participate in system implementations and process improvements.
• Use Excel, SQL, AI tools, and automation to reduce manual work.
