Job summary

Westlake Financial Services, based in Los Angeles, is seeking an Accounting Operations Accountant to join our in-office team. You will handle month-end entries, reconcile accounts, and support cash management in a fast-paced, data-driven environment.

The role emphasizes process improvement, automation and close accuracy, requiring strong accounting fundamentals and advanced Excel skills. Collaboration with Treasury, Finance, Operations, Tax, and Tech is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
• 1-3 years of general accounting or related experience; internships may be considered.
• Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and core accounting concepts.
• Experience preparing journal entries, performing account reconciliations, and supporting month-end close.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including lookups, PivotTables, formulas, data analysis, and data manipulation; Power Query is a plus.
• Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to communicate clearly and document conclusions in a review-ready manner.
• Basic SQL knowledge or willingness to learn SQL.
• Experience with ERP systems or accounting platforms (Great Plains, Oracle, etc.).
• Experience in high-volume transaction environments (auto finance, financial services, fintech, etc.).
• Familiarity with Power BI, Python, automation tools, or process improvement frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Prepare month-end journal entries, supporting schedules, and account analyses across key accounting areas.
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate reconciling items to drive timely resolution.
• Maintain and analyze daily cash balances; support treasury and cash management activities.
• Support the month-end close process with deliverables and documentation.
• Analyze financial and operational data to identify trends, exceptions, and opportunities for improvement.
• Collaborate with Treasury, Finance, Operations, Tax, and Technology to resolve accounting issues.
