Job summary

Capital Group in Charlotte, NC is seeking a detail‑oriented Core Operations Associate to support global equity trade operations and processing. You will handle trade capture, settlements, reconciliations, and reporting, using Excel and Power BI to track KPIs and mitigate risk.

The role emphasizes process improvement, documentation, cross‑functional collaboration with traders, brokers, and service providers, and a strong ownership mindset in a high‑volume environment.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Perform and support daily global equity trade operations including capture, settlement, reconciliation, and exception handling.
  • Investigate breaks, assess impacts, and drive issues to resolution.
  • Collaborate with Trading, brokers and service providers to exchange trade information.
  • Use data to identify trends, risks and process improvements.
  • Prepare operational reports and dashboards using Excel/Power BI.
  • Document procedures and participate in testing and rollouts of enhancements.
  • Communicate status and risks, managing priorities effectively.

What you will do
  • Perform and support daily global equity trade operations, including trade capture and enrichment, confirmation, settlement, reconciliation, exception management, and resolution of trade, cash, and position discrepancies.
  • Investigate trade breaks and operational exceptions, assess downstream impacts, communicate findings clearly, and drive assigned issues through timely resolution.
  • Partner with Trading, Investment Operations, brokers, custodians, counterparties, and service providers to exchange information and support accurate transaction processing.
  • Use operational data to identify trends, recurring exceptions, control risks, and opportunities for process improvement.
  • Prepare and maintain operational reporting, dashboards, key performance indicators, and risk metrics using advanced Excel, Power BI, or comparable analytical tools.
  • Contribute to process improvement and automation efforts that reduce manual work, strengthen controls, standardize procedures, and improve scalability.
  • Document procedures and process changes and participate in testing, implementation, and operational readiness activities for system or business enhancements.
  • Demonstrate ownership for assigned work, manage competing priorities, communicate status and risks, and escalate issues appropriately.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience in financial services, investment operations, trade operations, securities operations, banking operations, account servicing, or a related operational environment.
  • Knowledge of trade lifecycle processing, settlements, cash movements, reconciliations, exception management, operational controls, and risk management practices.
  • Experience or knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including PivotTables, Power Query, VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP, INDEX-MATCH, related formulas, and accurate analysis of large datasets.
  • Experience developing or using reporting or dashboards in Power BI or a similar business intelligence tool to support analysis, risk monitoring, and decision‑making.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a strong risk‑aware mindset, with the ability to identify potential issues, gaps, or control risks proactively.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a high‑volume, high‑expectation environment where accuracy, timeliness, and clear communication are critical.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to investigate issues, assess impacts, and recommend practical solutions.
  • Process‑and‑results‑driven orientation, with experience improving, standardizing, or documenting processes to reduce operational risk and improve scalability.
  • Comfort working in an ambiguous or evolving environment, independently assessing assigned issues and collaborating across stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ownership mentality, including accountability for outcomes, follow‑through to completion, and appropriate risk escalation.
  • Excellent collaboration and written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting equity trade operations, investment operations, fund accounting, custody operations, account onboarding, or brokerage operations.
  • Experience researching and resolving trade, settlement, cash, position, or other operational exceptions.
  • Experience working with brokers, custodians, counterparties, or outsourced service providers.
  • Experience with Power Automate, workflow automation, system testing, AI‑enabled tools, or similar technologies.
  • Experience participating in process improvement initiatives, operational projects, or global operating‑model enhancements.

Charlotte Base Salary Range: $65,947-$105,515

In addition to a highly competitive base salary, per plan guidelines, restrictions and vesting requirements, you also will be eligible for an individual annual performance bonus, plus Capital’s annual profitability bonus plus a retirement plan where Capital contributes 15% of your eligible earnings.
