Job summary

BWXT's Core Neutronics Design Engineer role is on-site in Lynchburg, VA within the Advanced Technologies Office. You will analyze advanced core designs, coordinate across disciplines, and contribute to design and operation from preconcept to final stages.

The position requires a bachelor’s in engineering or physics and 2+ years in neutronics, with strong writing and communication. U.S. citizenship and DOE/DOD clearance eligibility are required; MS and MCNP/OpenMC/PARCS experience are preferred.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in engineering or physics required.
Minimum of two (2) years of neutronics analysis and design experience.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to write and deliver high quality technical reports and presentations.
U.S. Citizen required; ability to obtain/maintain DOE or DOD security clearance.

Responsibilities

Perform analysis of advanced core designs including fuel systems, life cycle, and coolant types.
Coordinate with multiple engineering disciplines across joint teams.
Work on studies from preconceptual through final design and operation.
Use integrated neutronics, thermal hydraulics, mechanical/stress, and safety analysis for reactor design development.
Contribute to multiple projects supporting the core design team.
