Job summary

Comcast is seeking an Engineer 2, Network Engineering to support lifecycle management of core network infrastructure across a large telecommunications network. You will develop automation solutions with Python to enable deployment, augmentation, migration, and decommissioning of core devices, improving configuration management, compliance validation, and operational efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Network Engineering, or related field.
• 2-3 years of experience in networking, systems engineering, or network automation.
• Strong networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, subnetting, OSI, routing protocols (BGP/OSPF/ISIS/EIGRP).
• Experience troubleshooting multi-vendor network configurations (Cisco, Juniper, Nokia).
• Proficiency in Python or similar for network automation and tooling.
• Familiarity with DevOps basics: CI/CD, Git, IaC; exposure to Docker and Kubernetes.
• SQL and/or NoSQL databases and telemetry analysis skills.
• Networking certifications (CCNA, JNCIA or equivalent) preferred.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Nice-to-have: AI/ML tools, network simulators or labs.

Responsibilities

• Support full lifecycle of network infrastructure: deployment, upgrades, migrations, modernization, expansion, decommissioning.
• Develop and maintain Python-based automation for provisioning, configuration, validation, compliance, and efficiency.
• Assist with network audits, validation, compliance reporting, and large-scale deployments across multi-vendor environments.
• Analyze telemetry, configurations, and logs to identify trends and improve performance and reliability.
• Collaborate with engineering, operations, architecture and software teams to integrate automation and data-driven workflows.
• Support network changes, software upgrades, and infrastructure transformation while ensuring stability.
• Build and enhance automation frameworks for validation, anomaly detection, testing, deployment assurance, and lifecycle management.
• Contribute to CI/CD, release management, and continual improvement of network automation platforms.
• Document network systems, processes, and standards for scalable operations.
• Provide technical recommendations and support strategic network growth and modernization.
