Job summary

Oklo in the United States is seeking a Core Mechanical Design Engineer to design core assemblies and components for advanced reactors, guiding designs from concept to final, and collaborating with the Fuel Fabrication team to improve manufacturability and inspectability.

You will produce 3D CAD models and 2D drawings, perform tolerance stack-ups, support design reviews, and coordinate with analysis and fabrication teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or higher degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling software and detailing.
• Experience with CAD version control using PDM/PLM tools.
• Solid understanding of DFM, DFA, and tolerance analysis.
• Ability to apply GD&T per ASME Y14.5-2018.
• Knowledge of materials, manufacturing methods, and fabrication.
• Collaborative work across cross-functional teams.
• Strong written and verbal communication.
• Comfort with external manufacturers and consultants.

Responsibilities

• Develop designs to satisfy performance and manufacturing requirements.
• Create design documentation to define requirements.
• Conduct and participate in design reviews with feedback.
• Evaluate designs to identify deficiencies and propose solutions.
• Generate and maintain 3D CAD models, drawings, and BOMs in PDM/PLM.
• Coordinate with analysis to guide thermal, structural, and safety analyses.
• Perform manufacturability reviews, tolerance studies, and DFM/DFA.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of design processes and standards.
