Job summary

Job Summary

The Core Laboratory offers comprehensive testing services in the clinical disciplines of chemistry, hematology, coagulation and urinalysis. The Core Laboratory Manager provides scientific and technical oversight for laboratory operations, ensures compliance with regulatory agencies and promotes performance improvement activities. They manage the personnel, financial, equipment and supply resources of the laboratories with an emphasis on maintaining positive attitudes, strong leadership, team skills and customer service.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Provides scientific and technical oversight.
  • Supports compliance standards and performance improvement activities.
  • Manages department staff.
  • Manages financial resources.
  • Manages equipment and supplies.
  • Preserves and protects patient rights to confidentiality.
  • Maintains current knowledge of specialty by attending seminars, in-services and reading journals.
  • Performs other job-related duties.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree Required, Master's Degree Preferred; Field of study: biological, chemical, physical, or clinical laboratory science.
  • Minimum 3 to 5 Years of clinical chemistry and/or clinical hematology experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of management experience, core lab management experience preferred.
  • Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or other nationally recognized certifying agency.
  • Thorough knowledge of clinical laboratory operations, quality assurance practices, and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong leadership and staff management skills, with the ability to develop, motivate, and evaluate personnel.
  • Ability to manage departmental budgets, resources, equipment, and supplies effectively.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build collaborative working relationships.
  • Ability to lead performance improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and safeguard sensitive patient information.
