Job summary

Oakland University seeks a Core Services Engineer to administer and optimize Google Workspace and related collaboration platforms. You will focus on email services, cloud identity, and automation, ensuring secure, reliable IT delivery across enterprise systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent education/experience.
• At least four years in systems administration, collaboration platforms, or infrastructure engineering.
• Advanced admin and troubleshooting with Google Workspace (Gmail, Drive, Groups).
• Experience with cloud platforms: Azure, AWS, GCP, and Microsoft 365.
• Experience supporting enterprise email systems, including routing and security.
• Experience with identity management tools (Entra ID, MFA, SSO, CA).
• Scripting and automation experience; patch management and monitoring knowledge.
• Strong troubleshooting, communication, and ability to handle multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary administrator for Google Workspace and related collaboration services.
• Administer enterprise email services with routing, security, and performance optimization.
• Maintain core services in cloud/hybrid environments with security and reliability.
• Perform patching, updates, upgrades, and monitoring to ensure system integrity.
• Develop automation scripts and operational documentation to improve efficiency.
• Lead or support migrations and platform integrations for collaboration systems.
• Coordinate maintenance communications and participate in enterprise patch management.
• Collaborate with IT leadership to align core services with institutional needs.
