Job summary

Navy Federal Credit Union is seeking an Application Engineer for Core Banking Modernization to design, implement, certify, and evolve capabilities across legacy and modern banking platforms as one ecosystem. The role partners with business, product, architecture, engineering, and transformation teams to translate strategic objectives into scalable, secure technology solutions.

The position focuses on co-existence of on-premise and cloud banking platforms, data migration, and AI-enabled

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent in CS/IT/Engineering or related field.
7+ years in software engineering, solution architecture, and enterprise tech.
Experience with core banking platforms and data migration to cloud.
Understanding of data migration from mainframe to cloud applications.

Responsibilities

Support dual-core coexistence design and implementation across banking platforms.
Contribute to data migration/integration strategy for Core Banking modernization.
Define transaction lifecycle coverage from origination to General Ledger.
Develop integration patterns for APIs, messaging, and event-driven architectures.
Collaborate with security, operations, and architecture teams for readiness and observability.
Research and apply AI-enabled software engineering and AI-driven observability.
