Think Tank, Inc. seeks a skilled marine scientist to manage coral culture facilities, conduct disease and restoration studies, and support fieldwork in Galveston. You will coordinate staffing, oversee inventories, and maintain complex water systems under supervision.

You will also manage data, perform analyses, and contribute to manuscripts while prototyping tools to advance coral husbandry. Strong lab, field, and safety skills are essential for this role.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in marine sciences or related biology field with 3 years of coral culture systems experience or 5 years of coral culture experience.
  • Knowledge of water quality, aquaculture/mariculture, and animal husbandry concepts and methodologies.
  • Knowledge of basic plumbing, carpentry, and facility maintenance.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions for coral care and animal behavior.
  • Valid U.S. driver's license and ability to lift 50 lbs and work in cold environments.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate staffing and maintain supply/equipment inventories for the coral lab.
  • Maintain recirculating culture systems, monitor water quality, and report malfunctions.
  • Care for live coral specimens and assist with field operations and transport of specimens.
  • Lead data management, analyses, and manuscript preparation.
  • Prototype new tools and equipment to improve coral husbandry and conduct outreach activities.
