Job summary

The Lockwood Group, LLC is seeking a skilled Copy Editor to support Managing Editors on dedicated accounts, including editing, proofreading, data checking, submissions, and other editorial tasks. Responsibilities will be coordinated with the lead editor in conjunction with Traffic Management.

The role requires at least 5 years of medical editing experience, publications background, and proficiency with EndNote; knowledge of AMA and Chicago styles is preferred to ensure accuracy and consistency

Qualifications

• Publications experience and familiarity with AMA/Chicago styles are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Edit and proofread manuscripts and materials for assigned accounts.
• Perform data checks, prepare submissions, and liaise with Traffic Management.
• Maintain knowledge of client-specific guidelines and house style.
• Address editorial inquiries from scientific directors and team members.
• Ensure content meets accuracy, consistency, and storytelling standards.
• Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams, including Accounts and Scientific staff.

Summary

The role of the Copy Editor is to support aligned Managing Editors for dedicated accounts, including editing, proofreading, data checking, submissions, and other editorial tasks as requested. Responsibilities will be coordinated with the lead editor in conjunction with Traffic Management.

Key Responsibilities

• Supports Managing Editors and their aligned teams to address their daily and evolving needs
• Maintains a knowledge of relevant style guidelines for aligned accounts, including client-specific, AMA, and Chicago styles
• Contributes to maintenance and updates to Editorial SOP, list of frequently encountered editorial questions/issues, and list of team-specific requests and preferences
• Addresses CE-related questions from scientific directors and other team members
• Reviews content not only for objective grammatical and stylistic standards but with a critical eye for elements of "sense" or "story," when requested
• Demonstrates flexibility, innovation, and independent judgment
• Provides timely communication between relevant departments, including Accounts, Scientific, and third-party contributors

Education: A Bachelor's degree is required

Professional Skills and Requirements:

• At least 5 years of medical editing experience
• Experience in medical editing required; experience with multiple therapeutic areas and media formats preferred
• Publications experience required
• Experience with EndNote required
