Job Description

The University of Nevada, Reno seeks an Undergraduate Research Coordinator to support and expand undergraduate research opportunities across the institution. Reporting to the Director of Undergraduate Research, this position plays a key role in advancing university-wide efforts that engage students in research, scholarship, creative activity, and experiential learning. The coordinator is responsible for administering undergraduate research funding programs, coordinating application and award processes, supporting program assessment and continuous improvement efforts, and managing day-to-day program operations. The position also develops and delivers student-focused workshops and professional development opportunities, coordinates campus-wide events including the Wolf Pack Discoveries Poster Symposium and supports outreach efforts that increase awareness and participation in undergraduate research programs. Working collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, and external partners, the coordinator contributes to the continued growth of undergraduate research initiatives that support student success, graduate school preparation, and workforce development.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree and two (2) years of related work experience OR Master's Degree and one (1) year of related work experience. Related experience includes educational program development for students of diverse backgrounds, marketing or public relations experience, event coordination, or related experience.

Grants-in-Aid for Faculty Employees

Department Information

Undergraduate Research (UR) at the University of Nevada, Reno serves students by promoting undergraduate research opportunities, awarding research funding, connecting students with faculty mentors, offering skills-based workshops, hosting poster symposia, and publishing an undergraduateresearch journal. Current research awards offer stipends to students to cover research salaries and/or project supplies and materials. They are available to students in all disciplines and at all levels of study. The Pack Research Experience Program gives freshmen and sophomores the opportunity to gain experience working with faculty on existing scholarly research projects. The Nevada Undergraduate Research Award (NURA) is available to all class levels for students who develop their own research project to carry out under the guidance of a faculty mentor. The University of Nevada, Reno's Undergraduate Research program also offers travel awards for students attending professional conferences and is committed to increasing funding for all research awards so as to increase student participation in undergraduate research.
