Job summary

Montefiore St. Luke's Cornwall is seeking a Trauma Registry Specialist to ensure the integrity of the Trauma Program data and maintain regulatory compliance. The role involves generating statistics and reporting data from the Trauma Registry/PI databases to required entities.

The ideal candidate has an associate degree with experience in medical records, data abstraction, and knowledge of trauma terminology; NY RN license is preferred, with TNCC and related trainings considered a plus.

Qualifications

• Experience with medical records and abstracting data.
• Experience determining applicable procedures and response time as would typically be accomplished in at least one year as Trauma Registry Specialist.
• Quality management experience preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and trauma-related clinical information.

Responsibilities

• This position is accountable for the data integrity of the Trauma Program and ensures compliance with all regulatory entities governing trauma.
• Responsible for generating all metric driven and reportable statistics, ensuring new processes aremeasured, reporting statistical data to all required entities, maintaining Trauma Registry/PI databases.

Requirements

Education/Training:

• Associate Degree required;Bachelor's Preferred.
• College coursework in a medical field of expertise,such as nursing, health information administration, or related field. Completion of the Trauma Registry Course, ICD-10 Course, AIS 2015 Course, and TNCC within 12 months of hire.

Experience

• Experience with medical records and abstracting data is required.
• Experience in determining applicable procedures and response time as would typically be accomplished in at least one year as Trauma Registry Specialist.
• Experience in quality management preferred.
• Knowledge of medical/technical/diagnostic/procedural terminology and clinical pathology.
• Knowledge of practices, pre-hospital care, emergency and discharge information and characteristics of trauma patients.
• Able to review and understand clinical information related to the patient’s care.
• Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access.

Licensure, Registration or Certification:

• Certified Specialist in Trauma Registrar Preferred.
• New York State Registered Nurse License preferred.
• TNCC and TCAR preferred.
