Job description

Why Join United Way of Central Florida?

Imagine going home each day knowing your work has helped create welcoming, supportive experiences for young children and families in our community.

At United Way of Central Florida (UWCF), we believe that giving children a strong start creates possibilities that can last a lifetime. Through Success By 6, we connect families with resources, learning opportunities, and support designed to help children thrive.

As our Success By 6 Coordinator, you will be an important part of making that work happen — welcoming families, coordinating classes and events, keeping program information organized and accurate, and providing the behind‑the‑scenes support that helps our team serve families well. If you are warm, organized, detail‑oriented, and enjoy helping people while keeping many moving pieces on track, we invite you to consider joining our team.

Position Overview

The Success By 6 Coordinator provides administrative, operational, and program support for United Way Central Florida’s Success By 6 initiative and the Children’s Resource Center. This role supports the daily operation of the Center by welcoming families and visitors, coordinating classes and events, maintaining accurate program records and data, supporting family resources, occasionally assisting with or facilitating classes and family activities as needed, and assisting the Success By 6 team with the many details that help programs run smoothly.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys combining strong administrative and organizational skills with meaningful, family-centered community work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Welcome and assist families, visitors, community partners, and vendors at the Children’s Resource Center, helping create a warm and welcoming environment.
  • Provide administrative and operational support for Success By 6 programs, classes, events, and daily activities.
  • Schedule classes, events, meetings, and room reservations and coordinate logistics, including materials, supplies, setup, cleanup, and preparation of program spaces.
  • As needed, assist with or facilitate Success By 6 classes and family learning activities, providing additional program support when staff coverage or program needs arise.
  • Maintain accurate attendance, participation, program data, databases, records, reports, spreadsheets, and other required documentation.
  • Support the Parent Lending Library and help families access available resources.
  • Coordinate departmental meetings, including scheduling, agendas, materials, meeting minutes, and follow‑up items.
  • Assist with community outreach activities, presentations, special events, and family engagement initiatives.
  • Coordinate supplies and materials and collaborate with colleagues across UWCF on community initiatives and special projects.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Associate degree in early childhood education, child development, family services, education, human services, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • At least one year of experience in administrative support, program coordination, early childhood services, family services, customer service, or a related area.
  • Experience working directly with young children and families in an educational, early childhood, family engagement, or community-based setting strongly preferred.
  • Coursework or experience in early childhood education, child development, family services, or a related field is a plus.
  • A caring, organized professional who enjoys helping families and creating positive experiences for others.
Skills & Attributes
  • Strong administrative, organizational, and time‑management skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Warm, welcoming, and service‑oriented approach when interacting with children, families, visitors, and community partners.
  • Comfort engaging with young children and families in group learning or activity settings, with a willingness to assist with class facilitation as needed.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple priorities, schedules, programs, and deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint, and comfort learning databases and other technology.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively as part of a team.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.
  • Dependable, proactive, and flexible workstyle.
Work Schedule & Travel Expectations

This role requires occasional attendance at events and meetings that may occur in the early morning or evening.

Employees must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license, an acceptable driving record, and the ability to satisfy United Way Central Florida’s automobile insurance eligibility requirements. Employees must maintain personal automobile insurance coverage as required by law.

Compensation, Benefits & Work Schedule

This position is full‑time and non‑exempt and offers an hourly rate of $19.50–$22.00 per hour, commensurate with experience and qualifications, along with a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, paid time off, holidays, retirement savings, and professional development opportunities.
