Position Overview

Panera Bread is a specialty concept known for its people and quality products, offering diverse career opportunities. We are seeking a Staff Accountant to support our bakery-cafes, leadership team, and other departments with accurate financial reporting and general accounting support. This position is Hybrid, requiring work from our Fenton, MO offices three days per week.

Responsibilities

1. Prepare and own assigned account reconciliations and analyses each period, quarter, and year-end accurately and timely.
2. Collaborate with management to update accrual spreadsheets, process invoices, and research variances to ensure accurate monthly accruals for bakery-cafes and overhead departments.
3. Participate in reviews with bakery-cafe and overhead management, addressing questions related to P&L items and developing proactive relationships for excellent customer service.
4. Contribute to team projects and handle ad hoc requests as needed.

Qualifications

1. Accounting degree required; 2+ years of experience preferred.
2. Ability to manage high volume work and meet tight deadlines with accuracy.
3. Strong technical accounting skills and understanding of detailed accounting entries.
4. Effective communication skills for explaining financials to both non-accountants and accountants.
5. Friendly, helpful, and driven to achieve results.
6. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
7. Workday experience is a plus but not required.
