Job summary

Nevada State University invites applications for the position of Coordinator of Northern Nevada Programs. TheCoordinator supports the School of Education by supervising pre-service teachers, advising students on 2+2 transfer pathways, and recruiting prospective students from partner colleges and high schools.

The role serves as primary contact among students, Cooperating Teachers, district partners, and the main campus, building regional partnerships with TMCC and WNC.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Education or closely related field required.
  • Valid Nevada Department of Education teaching license/certification with K-12 classroom experience.
  • Experience supervising, mentoring, or evaluating pre-service or novice teachers.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to travel regularly throughout Northern Nevada to school sites and campuses.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse communities and cultures.
  • Excellent problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise Pre-Service Teachers in Northern Nevada: conduct classroom observations and evaluations; address placement concerns with leadership; manage action plans; report progress.
  • Advise Nevada State SoE students on 2+2 transfer pathways from TMCC/WNC.
  • Teach and manage the student teaching seminar course; provide feedback and maintain records.
  • Recruit students through presentations and campus events at TMCC/WNC and local high schools.
  • Build rapport with cooperating teachers and district partners across multiple districts.
  • Attend faculty meetings; potentially supervise a part-time instructor; liaise between Northern Nevada students and main campus.

Job Description

Nevada State University invites applications for the position ofCoordinator of Northern Nevada Programs. The Coordinator ofNorthern Nevada Programs supports Nevada State University's Schoolof Education (SoE) by supervising pre-service teacher candidatescompleting field placements throughout Northern Nevada, advisingstudents in Nevada State's 2+2 transfer pathways, and recruitingprospective students from partner community colleges and highschools. This position serves as the primary point of contactbetween Northern Nevada students, Cooperating Teachers, school-sitepartners, and the Nevada State main campus, and plays a key role inbuilding and sustaining strong regional partnerships with TruckeeMeadows Community College (TMCC), Western Nevada College (WNC) andlocal K-12 school districts.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Supervise Pre-Service Teachers in Northern Nevada: Conductclassroom observations and formative/summative evaluations, addressplacement related concerns in coordination with the Director ofPartnerships and Field Experiences, manage Dispositional ActionPlans, and report on student progress.
  • In collaboration with NSHE Specialist II/Advisor, advise NevadaState SoE Students: One-on-one and group advising on 2+2 transferpathways from TMCC/WNC into Nevada State's education programs.
  • Teach Student Teaching Seminar Course: Instruct and manage thestudent teaching seminar course, provide feedback and support toteacher candidates, assess student performance, and maintain allgrading and course records.
  • Recruitment for the School of Education: Presentations andcampus events at TMCC/WNC and area high schools to promote NevadaState's teacher preparation programs.
  • Build Rapport with Cooperating Teachers & DistrictPartners: Maintain relationships with school principals,Cooperating Teachers, and district staff across WCSD, Lyon, CarsonCity, Churchill, and Douglas County school districts.
  • Miscellaneous Duties: Attendance at faculty meetings,supervising a part-time instructor (If needed and in collaborationwith the Director of Partnerships and Field Experiences), andserving as a liaison between Northern Nevada students and maincampus.
Required Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Education or a closely related field.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with academic advising, transfer pathways, or 2+2partnership programs.
  • Familiarity with Northern Nevada K-12 districts (WCSD, LyonCounty, Carson City, Churchill County, Douglas County).
  • Experience with student recruitment or admissions in a highereducation setting.
  • Experience supervising part-time or adjunct staff.
  • Experience working with diverse, first generation andnon-traditional students.
  • Experience in university teaching.

Budgeted salary for this position is $54,285.00. Nevada StateUniversity offers excellent benefits, including 19.25% retirementmatch, 24 annual leave days, beginning balance of 30 sick leavedays, 12 paid holidays, educational benefits, and three healthinsurance plans that can be supplemented with flexible spendingaccounts or health savings accounts.
