Performance Foodservice is seeking a logistics support professional in Tampa to assist the Logistics Manager in overseeing inbound operations and cost-control initiatives. The role focuses on negotiating freight costs, tracking deliveries, and ensuring accuracy in carrier invoices.

The ideal candidate has a background in logistics support and is adept at problem-solving to improve bottom-line results while maintaining service levels. This is a full-time on-site position based in Florida.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent experience.
• 6-12 months of experience in logistics/transportation administrative support.
• Experience in logistics/transportation administrative support in related area.

Responsibilities

• Work with Logistics Manager to negotiate lowest freight costs without reducing service level.
• Generate period-end revenue report.
• Identify backhaul pickups that do not meet the minimum requirement for revenue.
• Identify loads to be moved by contract carriage and schedule such move.
• Monitor accepted loads and verify on-time delivery.
• Audit carriers' freight bills to ensure they agree with confirmations.
• Coordinate with Accounting to file vendor charge-backs to orders with volumes that have been confirmed but not shipped by managed vendor.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Position Summary:

Responsible for assisting the Logistics Manager in effectively managing the entire daily operations of inbound logistics in order to acquire control of inbound freight at less than delivered price to enhance bottom line income for the company. Solves freight problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where some standardization exists. Analyzes work-related situations and make decisions in an effective and timely manner. Functions as a team member within the department and organization, as required, and perform any duty assigned to best serve the company.
