Job summary

Dallas Independent School District is seeking a practitioner to lead and support the long-range facilities planning effort, including new construction, renovations and major infrastructure projects.

You will collaborate with district departments to analyze enrollment projections, facility conditions and program needs, and to develop multi-year capital improvement plans that align with district priorities and budgets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in construction management or related field.
• Three to five years of progressively responsible experience in construction, facilities planning, or capital planning.
• Highly organized with ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate on development and maintenance of the district’s long-range facilities plan for construction projects.
• Review enrollment projections, building capacity, facility conditions, and program needs to identify priorities.
• Develop multi-year capital improvement plans with costs, timelines, funding considerations, and priorities.
• Coordinate with architects, engineers, planners, and other service providers.
• Maintain records related to projects, assessments, cost estimates, site plans, schedules, and meeting notes.
• Assist with monitoring budgets, cost estimates, escalation, contingencies for feasibility and timing.
• Organize meetings with campus administrators, department leaders, community representatives to discuss needs.
• Develop reports, maps, schedules for district leadership and Board regarding plans and timelines.
• Track dates, approvals, consultant deliverables, procurement activities, milestones.
• Perform other planning, coordination, research, and admin tasks to support construction program.

Job description

• Collaborate with the development and ongoing maintenance of the district’s long-range facilities plan, including new construction, renovations, additions, replacements, and major infrastructure improvements.
• Work with district departments to review enrollment projections, building capacity, facility conditions, attendance patterns, and program needs to identify future construction and renovation priorities.
• Facilitate in developing multi-year capital improvement plans by organizing project needs, estimated costs, proposed timelines, funding considerations, and district priorities.
• Serve as a district point of coordination for architects, engineers, planners, demographic consultants, and other professional service providers involved in long-range construction planning.
• Maintain accurate and organized records related to proposed projects, facility assessments, cost estimates, site plans, schedules, planning studies, meeting notes, and other construction documentation.
• Assist with monitoring preliminary budgets, construction cost estimates, escalation assumptions, contingencies, and other financial information used to determine the feasibility and timing of future projects.
• Help organize meetings with campus administrators, department leaders, community representatives, and other stakeholders to gather information regarding facility needs and future construction priorities.
• Develop clear reports, summaries, presentations, maps, schedules, and other materials for district leadership and the Board of Trustees regarding long-range construction plans, facility needs, project priorities, and anticipated timelines.
• Track important dates, decisions, approvals, consultant deliverables, procurement activities, and other milestones necessary to keep long-range planning initiatives moving forward.
• Perform other planning, coordination, research, and administrative responsibilities as assigned to support the district’s construction program and ensure long-term facility investments align with district goals.
• Required Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university ; Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in construction management, architecture, engineering, planning, business administration, public administration, or a related field
• Three to five years of progressively responsible experience required in construction, facilities planning, project management, architecture, engineering, capital planning, or a related field.
• Highly organized, able to manage multiple priorities, and comfortable working with both detailed project information and long‑term planning.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively with district administrators, architects, engineers, contractors, consultants, and community stakeholders.
• Knowledge of school construction, facilities planning, capital improvement programs, project scheduling, budgeting, procurement, and construction documentation is preferred.
